Protest Facebook's "Real" Name Policy

This Protest happened today, June 1, 2015. If you can get on facebook feel free to use the link for details. As I am thousands of miles away I couldn't be there in person, but I was there in spirit.

It took place at:
Facebook HQ
1 Hacker Way, Menlo Park, California 94025

These are the signs people carried:

Just to be clear this really isn't about what is or isn't a "real name". It's a policy that allows bullies to report you just because they CAN. Once n the system your account is AUTOMATICALLY blocked.

No business can decide what YOUR name is.

It's BS to assume that bullies will stop being bullies JUST because they are using their "real names".

Get rid of a BAD policy.

Farcebook is not a bank, not the IRS, not the government. They doesn't deserve such sensitive information.

And THIS is doing real harm to real people. Real people matter more than real names.

#MyNameIs

Facebook thread where facebook is trying to con us into thinking they really care about on line safety. To which I say, bullshit and fuck you, farcebook.

An online protest:  Why Are Natives Changing Their Names to Zuckerberg on Facebook? #IndigenizeZuckerberg

Another incident of stupidity and intolerance: Facebook rejects Kylie the deaf transexual

Facebook's 'real name' policy hurts real people and creates a new digital divide
